Very Fun Christmas Performances!!

Today, Dec. 15th, was a terrific day of Christmas performances! Soozee performed Christmas music at the Harmony Nursing Home in Two Rivers for their afternoon party. Over 75 people attended and had a wonderful time. The rhythm instruments were passed out to everyone, and the singing and music making was joyous! Everyone seemed to have a very good time, including Soozee! It was so wonderful to see the residents of the home engaged and enjoying themselves by participating in the music making!

This evening, Soozee and Maria performed for the Marquette Manor holiday open house, and again, it was a very good time. Again the rhythm instruments were passed out to the residents, and although the crowd was much smaller (approximately 15 - 20 people), it was another joyous time of holiday fun, as songs were song, instruments were played, and stories were told.

Both celebrations included some good eats! Wonderful holiday foods for holiday cheer.

Michicot Pumpkin Fest

Saturday, October 20th, 2007 was a beautiful day in Michicot, WI, for Pumpkin Fest, and TAVOIS! added to the festivities. Performing on a small stage on Main Street, we played a variety of our originals, as well as a number of fun "pumpkin carols" to entertain the folks attending the community event. Our favorite was "Pumpkin Bells", sung to "Jingle Bells", and Maria spiced it up adding the cow bell as Soozee sung the chorus. We also did some drumming, and had a few children join us in the rhythm-making. After performing, we browsed the various vendor booths, and watched/participated in the dancing by a drum/dance group of Potawatomi Indians. Michicot is named after the historic figure, Chief Michicot, of the Potawatomi Nation. The Potawatomi onced inhabited the Michicot area.

Washington House Open Mic - October 13th

It was Applefest in Two Rivers, and Travois played at the Washington House Museum and Ice Cream Parlor. Nearly 200 people wandered through the museum during the day, and many stopped for a little while to listen to the music.
Pictured above: Sr. Maria, Soozee Weisflock, and Chris Neumeyer, jamming on "Will the Cirlce Be Unbroken", with Jim Hess sitting in on banjo.
Sr. Maria brought her accordian and wowed everyone once again with her fantastic music!
Our Banjo player was Jim Hess. With Chris on Mandolin and Jim on Banjo, we all made some fine music together!! Everyone enjoyed listening, and wanted to hear more....but at 5 p.m., it was time to pack up and go home.

1st Women's Open Mic a Success

Travois performing at the Open Mic, Sept. 30th.

Stumpjack Coffee Company was and is a great venue!

Jean Biegan reads her original poetry.

Stumpjack Coffee Company was the place on Sunday, September 30th, for good company, music and poetry...and marvelous coffee & treats! Although we were "competing" with Brett Farve's historic accomplishment....and the Packers/Vikings Game, a number of women enjoyed the late afternoon/evening event. A large laundry basket was filled with personal care products for the Manitowoc Women's Domestic Violence Shelter. The afternoon included music by Travois, and poetry read by several different women ready and willing to share writings. Several very moving poems were read by Jean Biegun, who plans to be a regular at future Women's Open Mic Events.

Our next Open Mic will be at the Washington House, 1622 Jefferson Stree, Two Rivers, on Saturday, October 13th, from 2 to 5 p.m. The Washington House is a museum, located a block to the East off of TR Main Street. It includes an old time ice cream parlour, with the best Cedar Crest Ice Cream! If you plan to attend, don't forget to have a treat in the ice cream parlour.
